About Elm Auto Service
Hablamos Espanol
Located at 1030 Cedar Ave, Scranton, PA 18505, Elm Auto Service operates as an auto repair shop serving Scranton in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. Typical hours are 8 amβ5 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (570) 909-9298. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, elmautoservice.com.
Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 37 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded auto repair shops in Scranton.
Scranton is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Scranton is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I've been a loyal customer to Charlie and his teams here and at Cedar Auto Repair for a few years. Yes they offer low prices but at the cost of your life or your children's lives I'd recommend you ask around or pay alittle more and go to a reputable place. Andy who is one of the old guys who has responded to that name when called into the office by Charlie on Tues March 24th at 9am when I presented the video proof of 5 of my lugnuts being tightened on the side of the road was the mechanic who worked on my car and he didn't tighten the lug nuts properly on the driver's side tire. Please review your surveillance footage of who was working that morning since you obviously don't know who works at your shop. So do not insult my intelligence and respond by saying you don't have any employee by that name. I drove to and from work for 2 days and only heard a thumping sound as I was about to take my kids to school. I used a lug wrench to tighten all but 1 that were lose. Safety over saving money on labor.

Kinda upset over my last experience with this place. I came to get my car inspected after coming from Mavis tires & had my tires replaced and windshield wipers. They do a courtesy of checking the vehicle to make sure it would pass for inspection because this particular one doesnβt do inspections so I came here after they told me my car was perfectly fine. Iβve been coming here for years and never really have a problem. But after I was told from another location that my brakes were 30% used, they wanted me to change my brakes which was fine they said βdo you want to do the one sticker and come back?β (Which Iβve done before here). I said yeah, then miscommunication happened and they started doing my brakes. Now after I caught it and told them Iβll just come back the guy comes in to show me my breaks. My husband also does them so I was just gonna have him do them at home. You know the cheaper route. Then told me βwe already have everything out it will be $120β.(how thatβs my fault idk) so then I said whatever change them because I felt pressuredβ¦ Then to top it all off they put stickers for 12/26 because they donβt go 1/27 until after Jan 15th? So after all that they did that lol, co

Charles was very nice and the service was fast. I took my car for an inspection and he was able to service my car the same day and it did not take long. I just moved to this area and have found my new auto service shop. Thank you again! Nicole W.
